I agree to a point. It's true that a lot of skills can get you hired simply through demonstration. (I had a roommate in Texas who taught himself using a pirated copy of AutoCAD, and got a great job without any college degree at all.) At the same time, most of the business world is still ruled by inflexible MBA cultists... Companies like Amazon, etc, have inflexible rules that keep you from getting promoted (or getting a prestigious transfer) if you don't have that college diploma. I hope to see that change in the future, too.
